At Fair Winds, you are less than a five-minute walk from the main entrance (Gate 1) of the United States Naval Academy, where future Navy officers have been developed since 1845. Tours of "The Yard" are available Monday–Saturday and are the perfect way to spend 90 minutes taking in the beauty and history of this hallowed institution. Even if you don't have an hour and a half to spend, it's still well worth your while to make a quick visit.
As a maritime capital, Annapolis is known for its seafood – and with good reason. But the area offers a huge variety of spots, from formal to informal, big to small, waterfront to intimate nooks.
Walk into downtown and find one of the dozens of spots up and down Main Street. Cross the bridge into Eastport for a more small-town feel. Or jump on the road and venture slightly outside the capital to a waterfront crab shack, local winery, or other surprises.
In addition to its bustling current-day activity, Annapolis has been at the heart of America before there was a United States. Several historical landmarks are just steps away from Fair Winds.
Just a five-minute walk from your front door is the oldest continuously functioning state capitol in the U.S., with guided and unguided tours available. Or, even closer, the William Paca house, a National Historic Landmark, is just one block up Prince George Street.
Walking tours and electric tram tours are also readily available to highlight some of the city's most famous sites – and best kept secrets.
